Tonight was a great win for the girls in our first OK red dual meet. We won 96-41 against Grand Haven, a team that we have not won against in recent memory. The full results can be found here.
Overall, many of the girls, across event groups, had PRs. The warmer weather definitely helps the sprinters attain faster times and everyone should expect to continue to see improvements as they work hard in practice and compete well in the meets.
A few performances that stuck out tonight:
Seniors, Taylor Buis and Aurora Wernette both ran prs in the 100.
Junior, Anna Smyk dropped 2 seconds off her 400 time to run a 1:04.04.
Freshman, Elizabeth Snider continues to improve each meet, tonight she ran prs in the 100, 200, and 400.
Freshman, Iris Swarthout ran a PR in the mile, dropping 6 seconds to a 5:25, and had a strong performance in the 2 mile.
A senior who is doing track for the first time, Addy Gerig, continues to pr in long jump and the 300 hurdles and consistently scoring in the high jump.
Freshman, Sonya Collins has consistently dropped her times each meet in the 800 and 1600.
Junior, Kaylee Comai, threw 3 feet further than she has before establishing a new PR in shot put and she ran prs in the 200 and 400.
Finally...
Freshman, Faith White, had a standout performance winning the long jump 16'5.75" and breaking the freshmen record in the 400 by running 1:01.26. The previous record of 1:01.34 was set in 1988 by Tara Weymon.
Nice job everyone!
