On Friday night, the varsity girls ran in the OK Red Conference Meet at Hudsonville High School. Our conference is one of the toughest around and going into the meet we were in 4th place based off the dual meet schedule. Official results can be found here.
The top 8 in individual events scored for the team and all relays scored (only 6 teams, all 6 teams score). The top 6 earned medals in all events, including relays.
We had a mixture of performances, some of the highlights and medalists include:
In the long jump, Taylor Buis was 3rd, jumping 16'5" and Anna Repesh placed 6th with a new PR of 15'8.25"
In the high jump, Taylor Buis was 4th clearing 5'0".
In the discus, Lauren Travis had a GREAT day, placing 2nd overall with a new PR toss of 109'1".
The 3200m Relay of Jenna Maas, Taylor Schott, Emma DeNave, and Abbey VanAllsburg placed 3rd overall with a time of 9:49.2.
The 4X200 relay of Taylor Buis, Morgan Miller, Anna Repesh, and Faith White was 3rd overall with a new season best time of 1:49.24.
Iris Swarthout was 5th in the mile running 5:18.3.
The 4X100 relay of Taylor Buis, Silvia Restucci, Jurrien Wilson, and Morgan Miller was 4th overall with a season best time of 52.94.
Morgan Miller finally got another chance to run the 300 hurdles (she has not been able to run them since spraining her ankle at Rockford), but finished 5th overall with a time of 50.00.
In the 2 mile, Emma DeNave was 4th and Iris Swarthout finished 5th.
We finished 5th in this meet with 61pts. This is 22 more points than we scored last year in this meet. However, we had the potential to do much better.
So our overall finish in the conference this season was a tie for 4th place with Grand Haven.
We are looking ahead to regionals this coming Friday at Grand Haven HS. This is the meet where the girls could potentially qualify for the state by finishing in the top 2 in their event OR meeting the additional qualifying standard for their event. We have the potential to have several girls make it to the state meet, but this all depends on who shows up to compete on that day.
